How to install mods in Stardew Valley

Before you install any mods, it’s a good idea to start up the app to ensure all relevant files have been installed and the game works properly.

1. Install Stardew Valley
2. Open the game, check it’s running fine, and close it.
3. Open the App Info page by long pressing the app icon.
4. Tap the Force Stop button.

Install and run SMAPI

Now that you’ve downloaded SMAPI, tap the arrow at the bottom of the screen to start Stardew Valley and check everything is working correctly. You shouldn’t notice anything different, as you haven’t installed any mods yet. If you encounter an issue with your game, try reinstalling SMAPI.

Install a mod

SMAPI is where you will download new mods and run your modded version of Stardew Valley. The best place to download Stardew Valley mods is Nexus Mods, easily accessible within the SMAPI app.

1. Open SMAPI.
2. Open the Help tab.
3. Tap the Nexus button.
   • Tapping this button will open Nexus Mods in your phone’s browser. Here you can search, filter, and sort all the mods available for Stardew Valley. You will need to create an account to start downloading.
4. Find the mod you wish to download and tap MANUAL DOWNLOAD.

5. Move the downloaded mod to your newly created Mods Folder (in Internal Storage/Stardew Valley/Mods).
6. Extract the zipped mod into the Mods folder.
