New 3 AMD chip based DAC: “Two AK4499EX DAC chips, in conjunction with an AK4191 DAC chip, completely separate the digital and analog circuitry of the conversion process. The analog characteristics far exceed those of the previous AK4499 D/A chip. XMOS XU316 USB controller provides support for 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512 transmission.”
MQA, Bluetooth, hefty power supplies, nice casework…for just under $1K. Seems like a lot of good stuff, well engineered with quality components.
ASR stellar test measurements. But those guys don’t listen to stuff. Reminds me of the early days of computer audio when the head honcho at Weiss said he didn’t listen as he designed, just measured.
