Tilta recently released three new action camera cages: one for the GoPro HERO11, for the Insta360 X3 and for the DJI Osmo Action 3. All three cages give your camera an extra layer of protection and add multiple mounting points and cold shoe mounts around the cages to attach additional camera accessories. So let’s take a closer look at all of these cages!
After the recent release of the Hydra Arm Mini that we had a first look at, Tilta is back with more affordable camera cages for the GoPro HERO11, Insta 360 X3, and DJI Osmo Action 3, which were all released in September 2022.

Tilta GoPro HERO11 cage
The Tilta cage for the GoPro HERO11 is made from aluminum alloy and available in pink, black, and titanium gray colors. It wraps around the GoPro HERO11 and does not obstruct any buttons.

The cage gives you two additional 1/4″-20 mounting points with locating pins and two cold shoe mounts.

Also, there is a GoPro folding accessory mount at the bottom, so the cage remains compatible with all HERO11 accessories you might already have.
Furthermore, putting your camera inside the cage is quite fast with a one-step lock on the left side. This one-step lock system also makes swapping camera batteries a breeze.

Optional accessories are available, including a 52mm filter tray adapter ring and a mounting bracket compatible with the GoPro Mic Adapter.

Tilta Insta360 X3 cage
The Tilta Insta360 X3 has some similarities to the one for the GoPro HERO11:
- The cage is entirely made out of aluminum.
- A quick-release system allows you to slide the camera inside the cage and lock it in place with one lever.
- All the buttons/openings are still accessible.

Regarding mounting points, the Tilta Insta360 X3 cage only has two 1/4″-20 mounting points and one cold shoe mount. On top of the cage is an interesting rotatable support bracket that protects the spherical lenses from scratches when you put the camera on a flat surface.

Lastly, the bottom of the cage features a foldable GoPro mount to increase rigging capabilities with accessories you might already have.

Tilta DJI Osmo Action 3 cage
The Tilta DJI Osmo Action 3 cage is also entirely made of aluminum and weighs only 70g/2.46oz. In addition, this cage features a dual-sided quick-release design so you can quickly get the camera in/out and swap batteries.

On top of the cage, you’ll find an external power button and a cold shoe receiver. On the left side, there is also a 1/4″-20 mounting point with locating pins.

In the box, you’ll also find a magnetic 1/4″-20 mounting baseplate that you can attach to the bottom or left side if needed. The cage is compatible with Tilta’s magnetic CPL, UV, and ND filters.

Pricing and availability
The Tilta cage for the GoPro HERO11 retails for $39, the cage for the Insta360 X3 is $45, and the version for the DJI Osmo Action 3 is $49. All products are available for pre-order now with a 10% rebate until January 19th. All cages should start shipping in 2 to 3 weeks afterward.
